This crostini is all about the composition. The potato filling features tamarind chutney, lemon juice, chaat masala, and dried mint along with your usual masalas. Paired with the sweet jam-chutney layer and the crunchy garnish, this is finger food at its best!

Ingredients
  • 1 loaf french baguette , sliced or use any bread of your choice
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • sweet chili jam , store-bought
  • mango chutney , store-bought
Potato Masala:
  • 1 1/2 cup potatoes , boiled and chopped
  • 1/4 cup tomatoes , deseeded and finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup onions , finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup black gram (kala chana or black chickpeas) , boiled
  • 2 green chilies , finely chopped
  • 3 tbsp peanuts , coarsely crushed
  • 2 tbsp cilantro , finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp fresh coconut , thinly sliced
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • 2 tsp tamarind chutney
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp roasted cumin powder
  • 1 tsp chaat masala
  • 1/2 tsp black salt
  • 1/2 tsp dried mint
Garnish:
  • sev (bhujiya)
  • peanuts
  • fresh coconut , thinly sliced
  • cilantro , finely chopped
Instructions
  1. Mix together all of the potato masala ingredients and set aside in a bowl.

  2. Brush your bread with olive oil and toast it in the toaster until golden brown or bake in an oven at 350°F/175°C.

  3. Apply sweet chili jam and/or mango chutney on the toasted baguette slices.

  4. Spread the potato masala liberally on the bread.

  5. Top it with sev (bhujiya), peanuts, fresh coconuts, and cilantro.

  6. Your Kolkata Masala Crostini is ready! Enjoy!
