Kesariya Gulab Makhan Board — with fresh fruits, rose petals, almonds, and a saffron-rose-kewra infused honey, this butter board is an ode to the classic Indian makhan mithai that I loved as a kid. Sweet peaches and blueberries paired with the creamy butter and floral honey are a combo that I could only dream of!
If you’re anything like me, one of the first things that came to our mind with this new butter board trend was Makhan Mithai. A popular Indian mithai with nuts and fruits in a butter base, it’s the perfect inspo! I like to serve this with pav for the most authentic flavor but even crackers or other bread would be great in a pinch!

Kesariya Gulab Makhan Board — with fresh fruits, rose petals, almonds, and a saffron-rose-kewra infused honey, this butter board is an ode to the classic Indian makhan mithai that I loved as a kid. Sweet peaches and blueberries paired with the creamy butter and floral honey are a combo that one could only dream of!
- 4 oz butter , softened (approx. 120 gm)
- 1/2 cup mixed fruits , chopped in small pieces
- 2 tsp almonds , slivered
- 2 tsp pistachio , slivered
- 2 tsp walnuts , chopped
- milk masala powder
- golden sprinkles
- edible flowers
- edible gold foil
- 2 tbsp honey
- pinch saffron
- 2 drops rose essence
- 2 drops kewra essence
-
Place a banana leaf or parchment paper on a board of your choice. Spread a thin layer of softened butter over the leaf.
-
Spread mixed fruits over the butter. I used peaches, blueberries, strawberries, grapes and pomegranate.
-
Then spread nuts and milk masala powder on top.
-
In a small bowl, mix together honey and saffron. Warm it for 10 seconds in a microwave to make it easy to drizzle. Then mix in rose and kewra essence.
-
Drizzle the infused honey over the butter board.
-
Top with golden sprinkles, edible flowers and apply edible gold foil.
-
