Sitaphal Phirni Motichoor Cups — the prettiest Diwali dessert that combines two of my favorite flavors! With a silky sitaphal (custard apple) phirni paired with a motichoor ladoo cup, your friends and family are going to love this!

We’ll start by blending our rice and milk until it becomes smooth. In a pan, we’ll bring the rest of our milk up to a simmer. Add in the rice paste while stirring continuously, making sure that no lumps are formed while the mixture thickens. Add in the sugar and continue simmering until you get this velvety texture!

No, in goes our sitaful or custard apple pulp and elaichi. Give the phirini a gentle mix and we’ll finish it off with pistachios.

After our phirni has chilled in the fridge, we’re ready to assemble! Using store-bought motichoor ladoos, we can make these adorable little cups by gently pressing it against the side of a mold. Pipe in the luscious sitafal phirni and garnish with pistachio powder, pomegranate, and gold foil.

Ingredients
Rice Mixture:
  • 3 tbsp short grain rice , washed & dried or just soaked & drained
  • 1/4 cup milk
Phirni:
  • 3 cups whole milk , or use any milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup custard apple (sitaphal) pulp
  • 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
  • 1 tbsp pistachio , slivered
Serving:
  • 20 pc mootichoor ladoo , store-bought
Garnishes:
  • pistachio powder
  • edible gold foil
  • pomegranate seeds
  • saffron
  • pistachio , slivered
Instructions
  1. Blend your rice and milk until they become a smooth paste. You can either use washed and dried rice, or just soaked and drained rice.

  2. In a pan, bring the milk up to a simmer. Add in the rice paste while stirring continuously, making sure that no lumps are formed while the mixture thickens. Add in the sugar and continue simmering until you get a thick, velvety texture.
  3. Finish the phirni with the custard apple pulp, cardamom powder and pistachio. Give it a gentle mix until everything comes together.
  4. Chill your phirni in the fridge for at least 30 minutes so it gets a thicker consistency and fill it into a piping bag.

  5. To serve, take your motichoor ladoo and press them against the side of the mold to create cups. Pipe in the sitafal phirni and garnish with pistachio powder, kesar, pomegranate, gold foil and slivered pistachios. Your Sitaphal Phirni Motichoor Cups are ready, enjoy!

    Can you substitute sitaphal with some other fruit since sitaphal is not available where I live.

      you can use in-season mangoes or lychees instead

        Can you suggest any fruit other than mango, lychees please. Sitafal is also not available where I live

        You can use apples – use shredded, or can just make kesar phirni too
