WATCH HOW TO MAKE HOT CHOCOLATE STRAWBERRY MOUSSE:
We’ll start by making the base of our mousse with some milk, heavy cream, sugar, instant coffee, cornstarch, and cocoa powder. Give this a mix until it’s nice and smooth and then we’ll fold in our semi-sweet chocolate chips and vanilla extract.
We’ll heat this until it thickens and becomes super rich and velvety! Just look at how decadent that texture is, it’s truly so irresistible.

In our serving glasses, I placed a layer of some crushed amaretti almond cookies mixed with melted butter, but you can use any cookies of your choice. Top this with some fresh, in-season strawberries that will help brighten this up. Pour over the silky hot chocolate mousse and create a smooth top.
Let this chill in the fridge and garnish with a dusting off cocoa powder, freeze dried strawberry powder, fresh strawberries, and some sprinkles. Enjoy!

Hot Chocolate Strawberry Mousse — rich and velvety, this decadent dessert features a chocolate mousse with fresh strawberries and an almond cookie crumble! So effortless to put together and the perfect elegant dessert when served in fun cocktail glasses, the holidays are incomplete without this!
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup cream
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tsp instant coffee powder
- 4 tbsp corn starch
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- pinch salt
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
- 5 almond cookies
- 1 tbsp butter , melted
- 1 cup strawberries , chopped
- cocoa powder
- freeze dried strawberries , powdered
- strawberries , finely diced
- golden sprinkles
-
To make the hot chocolate mousse base, whisk together milk, cream, sugar, instant coffee powder, cornstarch, cocoa powder, and salt.
-
Then, add semi-sweet chocolate chips and vanilla essence, and heat the mixture on medium flame. Whisk vigorously to prevent any lumps. After about 5 minutes, you should start to see large bubbles. We want this to be a thick and the mixture should start sticking to the back of a spoon (see my recipe video for this). At this point, your hot chocolate mixture is ready, take it off the heat and keep it aside.
-
To make the almond cookie crumble, mix melted butter with crushed almond cookies.
-
In a serving glass, add a layer of almond cookie crumble followed by a layer of chopped strawberries. Then, fill the serving glass with hot chocolate mixture up to the top and level it off with the help of a spatula. Let this chill in the fridge for 2-3 hours.
-
To garnish, add diced strawberries, edible flowers, and a dusting of cocoa powder, freeze-dried strawberry powder, and golden sprinkles. Serve chilled and enjoy!

can another fruit work with this mousse? i cant seem to find sweet strawberries in winters in US
I live in Chicago, and the strawberries currently available in stores are absolutely fine. You need that little bit of tartness to balance the taste.
You can always use any berries of your choice, even compote will to.
